Build an applet to bring the card up.

              What these two do

Send the envelope is the terminal telling the card something happened — a location change, a timer, a menu press. The card only hears it if an applet called setEvent for that event; otherwise nothing runs at all, and that silence is the correct answer rather than a fault.

Send TERMINAL PROFILE is the handset announcing what it can do. Nothing proactive works before it arrives: an applet may register happily and issue DISPLAY TEXT, and the card will refuse to send it because, as far as the card knows, there is no terminal able to perform it. If a sample seems to do nothing, send this first.

nothing queued: the phone answers "performed" and carries nothing back

              Campaign

              Running is not asserting

A step with no expectation passes by running. That is a script, not a test, and the summary says nothing asserted so a wall of ticks cannot be mistaken for a green suite. Give a step an expectation with ✎.

Pinning a refusal counts as a pass. “EF_IMSI answers 6982 without a PIN” is one of the most valuable things a campaign can record, and it is correct behaviour rather than a failure.

If a step could not run, the rest are marked skipped rather than passed — everything after it was written against a card state that never happened. A failed expectation does not stop the run, because the command still ran.

                    Applet Lab

Write a UICC toolkit applet in Java, compile it, and watch it install onto a simulated card and take over a simulated handset — menu, proactive commands, network events and all. No card, no reader, no toolchain.
